Stop — but don’t stay down. When life knocks us down, permit ourselves to acknowledge the hit. We don’t have to pretend we’re okay. But There’s a difference between being knocked down and deciding to stay down.

Take the hit — but don’t make it our identity.
What happened to us is part of our story, but it doesn’t get to define who we are. Don’t let one failure, disappointment, loss, rejection or bad season become the definition of our life.

Get our perspective back.
When we’re down, everything can look bigger and darker than it really is. Step back. Breathe. Maybe a better way to look at things is to ask, “What is actually happening here, and what can we do about it?” Don’t make permanent decisions in the middle of temporary pain.

Get back up — one step at a time.
We don’t have to have the whole plan figured out. Sometimes getting back up simply means making the next phone call, taking the next step, getting out of bed, trying again. Progress doesn’t have to be dramatic to be progress.

Don’t try to get up alone — ask Jesus for help. The Bible says in Hebrews 10:35–36 “Do not throw away our confidence… We need to persevere. There is a reward if we do.” It actually says "Great Reward," so not only do we have reward for the future if we make heaven our home, but in the here and now, we can find reward because our hand is in the hand of the Master. Our confidence isn’t in our ability to control what life throws at us. It’s in the One who is with us when we get hit. He gives us the strength to get back up when we choose to let Him help us in our times of need.
"No matter what has happened to us in the past or what is going on in our life right now, it has no power to keep us from having an amazingly good future if we will walk by faith in God. God loves us! He wants us to live with victory so we can possess His promises for our life today!"
